The Corrections Commission of Northwest Ohio met yesterday and heard about proposed changes in how beds are allocated at the regional jail. Toledo is now charging criminals under the Ohio Revised Code rather than city ordinance and that will have an as-yet not understood impact on their need for beds at the jail. Toledo wanted to go back to their original allotment of 228 beds instead of the current 240, which would increase the bed count for Lucas, Fulton and Henry Counties. Discussed was what happens if Lucas County has to shut the county jail due to overcrowding and how the overflow would come to the CCNO.
