Change could be coming that would revamp the Williams County Regional Planning Commission and its processes. The Commission is tasked with reviewing certain land use issues, such as lot splits, zoning variances and new subdivisions in the unincorporated areas of the county. Officials suggested changing the planning commission from one which now consists of up to three dozen regional representatives, to one with about 10-12 members from Williams County only. The revised county planning commission could also update the county development master plan and the subdivision regulations, and could work with the Williams County Port Authority on developing new housing in Williams County, officials add.
