A bill under consideration in the Indiana Statehouse would require Hoosier students to pass a civics test in order to graduate high school. Senate Bill 132, authored by State Sen. Dennis Kruse of Auburn, would require the state to administer an exam to students in grades eight through 12 that consists of material identical to the United States Civics Test given to those seeking U.S. citizenship. The legislation passed the Senate by a vote of 31-17. The bill will now move to the House of Representatives for consideration.
