Close Call For Deetz

Randall Deetz, a former DeKalb County commissioner, escapes serious injury after falling through the ice while fishing on a pond near Waterloo, along County Road 23. When deputies arrived, Deetz was in the middle of the pond, submerged up to his neck…holding himself up by a rope that had been tied to a tree. Responders find a small boat on the shore…push it to Deetz…he gets in the boat until more help arrives. Deetz was checked out by emergency crews at the scene.
