A Huntington officer, involved in a shooting at Yeoman Park is cleared of any wrongdoing. On Oct. 23, Huntington County deputies and Huntington Police were called to a home for a well-being check of a suicidal person. Police arrived at the home but did not find the person, and they began a search of the area. Later, they found him at Yeoman Park, just northeast of downtown Huntington. He was armed and did not comply with police…a foot chase ensued. Shots were fired from the officers, and the man, later identified as 29-year-old Vincent Smith of Huntington, was killed. Huntington County prosecutor, Amy Richison says the officer acted reasonably and did not commit any crimes when he shot Smith.
