COVID-19 cases are trending downward in Williams County, though the county’s vaccine rate is still low. The lowering trend is simply part of the basic ebb and flow the pandemic has taken over the last year and a half, health officials say. According to the latest data from the state, only 39.4% of Williams County’s population has been fully vaccinated against the disease. This is behind the state average of 50.7%. Right now…officials confirm at least 80% of the county population, 65 or older, has been vaccinated. They add…that booster…authorized last month for people 65 years old or older and for others with underlying medical conditions…is going well, especially among the seniors. Williams County has seen a total of 5,021 cases of COVID-19, with 4,504 people recovered. 247 total hospitalizations, in all. So far, 84 people in Williams County have died from Covid. In Fulton County?…a different story. Four new COVID-19 deaths are reported by the Fulton County Health Department. There have now been 96 deaths in the county. 84 new cases, now reported…that’s a drop from 90, the week before, officials say. The age group with the highest number of cases reported this week?…those in their 30s. It’s the same thing all over…overwhelmingly…those getting sick now…some dying…no shots…no masks…no protocols.
