Dan Clum Elected President of Montpelier Council

Montpelier Village Council elected Dan Clum president Monday evening. Council also learned about a federal Community Development Block Grant and approved the purchase of three voltage regulators for the expansion of the airport substation.

Council agreed to make the grant, worth $170,000, available to be used to upgrade and improve the First National building on the north side of Main Street.

A public hearing was set for Jan. 27 at 4:30 p.m. at the police department meeting room to review zoning and ordinance updates for 2014. Updates may also be viewed at the village hall.

Two firefighters were recognized for 40 years of service at the firefighters banquet Jan. 11. Dail Fritsch and Steve Moore have both been with the department for 40 years.

Council members noted and thanked the village street department for an excellent job clearing the snow during and after the storm which kept much of the county immobilized Jan. 4 and 5.
