David T. Brokaw, 73

David T. Brokaw, 73 years, of West Unity passed away Sunday, July 17, 2016 in his home with his family by his side. David was born May 10, 1943 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, the son of the late Charles “Lewis” and Leila M. (Murphy) Brokaw. He was a 1961 graduate of Flushing High School and continued his education at Bliss Business College and Ohio State University. David married Joy D. Wills on January 25, 1969 in Saratoga, Indiana. He worked in management at Sauder Woodworking for 31 years retiring in 2004. David and Joy attended the First Baptist Church of Stryker. David enjoyed gardening, camping and being outdoors. He was an avid Ohio State Buckeye fan. David enjoyed the simple things in life especially spending time with his family.

Surviving is his wife, Joy of West Unity, Ohio; three children, Brian (Bobbie) Brokaw of Indianapolis, Indiana, Lori (Brian) Stout of Indianapolis, Indiana, and Shawn (Jessica) Brokaw of West Unity, Ohio; seven grandchildren, Chloe and Anthony Brokaw, Will and Alex Brown, Zane, Ethan, and Asher Stout, and one brother, Charles “Edward” (Sally) Brokaw of Somerset, Pennsylvania. David was preceded in death by his parents, and two grandchildren, Joshua David Brokaw and Kathleen Joy Brokaw.

Visitation for David T. Brokaw will be held Friday, July 22, 2016 from 2:00-4:00 p.m. and 6:00-8:00 p.m. in Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, 202 North Liberty Street West Unity. Funeral Services will be held Saturday, July 23, 2016 at 2:00 p.m. in First Baptist Church of Stryker, 100 South West Street, Stryker, Ohio, with Pastors Daniel Douglass, Sean Ingram, and Matt Dodd officiating. Interment will follow in Floral Grove Cemetery, West Unity. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the funeral service on Saturday.
