Deadly Crash Kills One

A 50-year-old Bryan man is dead after a crash between a motorcycle and pickup truck Tuesday, on County Road 9 in Defiance. Officials tell reporters…Gary McCarty was riding south on his Harley on County Road 9. At the same time…68-year-old Kevin Van Gussel, of Kendallville, was northbound. Van Gussel tried to make a left turn into a private driveway…in front of McCarty…who died on impact. They say he wasn’t wearing a helmet. The road was closed for over four hours after the accident. State and local officials continue their investigation into the fatal accident at this hour.
