Deadly Crash Near Defiance

One is dead and four are injured…after a three-car crash in Defiance Saturday, on Route 24, between Jewell and Independence Roads in Richland Township. An officer has pulled someone over. As that goes on…another vehicle…driven by Justin Johnson of Defiance…drifts off the roadway onto the shoulder…hitting the patrol car…then…the two vehicles plow into a third. Johnson is in critical condition. His passenger…dies in an area hospital, hours later. The officer is hurt…but will be okay. The road is cleared in under three hours. State and local officials are investigating at this hour.
