DEFENSE TO BEGIN TODAY IN MURDER TRIAL

Testimony continues today in the murder trial of an Oakwood woman in Defiance County Court.

The prosecution rested Monday in the trial of 46 year old Judith Hawkey, who is charged with aggravated murder and other charges in the death of her husband.

Prosecutors say Hawkey made her then ten year old stepson shoot and kill her husband, who was the boy’s father, back in November of 2003. That shooting was originally ruled accidental, but the case was re-opened in 2012.

Twenty four witnesses took the stand after the prosecution opened its case one week ago.

The defense will start to present their case today.
