Defiance Police Department advising residents to be aware of an online scam

Phone scams of various types are making their way around the country. Now the Defiance Police Department is advising residents to be aware of an online scam that has been reported locally. According to law enforcement, prospective victims are contacted via Facebook and asked to call a number (202-858-4857), and send money via MoneyGram to receive a larger sum from an entity called “Global Grant Fund” via UPS. If you receive such a notice on facebook, delete it.
