Defiance to keep two top officials

Two of Defiance’s top city officials will stay on with the approval of the next mayor. On Tuesday, council discussed contract renewals for administrator Jeff Leonard, and law director David Williams. Current Mayor Bob Armstrong told the council that he and incoming Mayor Mike McCann, who won a four-year term last month, both agreed to offer new one-year contracts to Leonard and Williams. Council did not object. The actual terms of the contracts will be negotiated in January after McCann takes over as mayor.
