Despite complaints from hunters that the number of deer appears down this year, The Ohio Department of Natural Resources put out some numbers yesterday that showed more deer were checked in area counties so far this year than last. On opening day, hunters checked 22,256 white-tailed deer. The deer-gun season is open through Sunday, then two additional days in December are slated for the 28th and 29th.
