Donald “Ross” Strayer, 88

Donald “Ross” Strayer, age 88, of Wauseon, passed away on Thursday, August 20, 2015, at the Toledo Hospital. Prior to his retirement he had owned and operated Perfection Finishers in Wauseon. He was a past-president of the Wauseon School Board.

Ross was born in Fulton County, Ohio on October 6, 1926, the son of Arba and Gladys (Bittakoffer) Strayer. On December 24, 1948 he married Virgie Quillet, and she preceded him in death in 2004. He was an Army veteran of WWII. He enjoyed playing euchre, golfing, and spending time at the cottage with family at Devils Lake. He was a member of the Devils Lake Ski-Devils Ski Club.

Surviving are three sons, Tim (Becky) Strayer of Uniontown, OH, Terry (Deb) Strayer of Wolcottville, IN and Ted (Karen) Strayer of Connecticut. He is also survived by two granddaughters, Michelle Wenger and Jamie Tetzloff, two great-granddaughters, Alisa Lynn Tetzloff-Strayer and Lilly Renee Wenger, and brother, George “Bill” Strayer of Wauseon. He was preceded in death by his wife; daughter, Tammy Strayer, and three sisters; Geneva, Francis and Lola.

Visitation for Ross will be held from 11:00 A.M. until 2:00 P.M. on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at the Edgar-Grisier Funeral Home in Wauseon, where the funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 P.M., with Pastor Wes Hoffmire, officiating. Interment will follow in the Wauseon Union Cemetery, where Military Rites will be performed by the Fulton County Honor Guard.
