Edon Village officials said the police chief who shot and killed a man last summer during a mental-health check will return to duty. Chief Thomas Szymczak is set to resume his duties Thursday after a mediation agreement through the Ohio Supreme Court Government Conflict Resolution Service, according to a statement released by a village spokesman. Mayor Duane Thiel, Chief Szymczak, and Council President Lee Lawrence all took part. Chief Szymczak stated he is looking forward to returning to work.
