Fairview High School building improvement project was approved Monday

Moving forward with an estimated $2.3 million Fairview High School building improvement project was approved Monday by the Central Local school board. The project will include upgrades to the heating, ventilation, air conditioning, electrical, fire and safety systems, plus replacement of doors and windows. Council voted to authorize Superintendent Vicki Brunn to move ahead on the process. Approval was also given for the purchase of custom-sized electrical switchgear from Square D for $56,350. This was done without competitive bidding due to the need for the equipment to be available at the high school at the beginning of the summer break. Brunn also asked the board to consider going to all-day, everyday kindergarten. A special board meeting to decide on this proposal will be at 6 p.m. Feb. 24.
