FATAL CRASH IN DEFIANCE

A Defi­ance woman died Sat­ur­day in a two-vehicle crash.

The High­way Patrol reports that 62 year old Jan­ice Thomp­son was south­bound on Car­pen­ter Road at about 10:45 a.m. when she ran through an inter­sec­tion and was hit by a west­bound pickup truck on Ban­ner School Road dri­ven by 74 year old Edward Osborn of Defi­ance.

A pas­sen­ger in Thompson’s vehi­cle was taken to Mercy St. Vincent’s Med­ical Cen­ter in Toledo with non-life threat­en­ing injuries. Osborn and a pas­sen­ger in his vehi­cle were taken to ProMed­ica Defi­ance Regional Hos­pi­tal with minor injuries.

The crash remains under inves­ti­ga­tion by the Ohio High­way Patrol.
