The Toledo Post of the Ohio State Highway Patrol is investigating a fatal traffic crash that occurred on September 9, 2024, at around 1:30 p.m. at the intersection of County Road 10 and County Road D in York Township, Fulton County.
23 year old Mallory M. Creque, of Riga, Michigan, was driving a vehicle southbound on County Road 10 when she failed to yield the right of way from the stop sign and pulled into the path of a motorcycle, operated by 55 year old John A. Schofield, of Swanton, who was driving westbound on County Road D. Schofield laid down his motorcycle in an attempt to avoid the Creque vehicle.
Schofield was unsuccessful and struck the driver’s side of the vehicle.
John Schofield was taken by Delta Fire and EMS to the University of Toledo Medical
Center where he succumbed from his injuries. Mr. Schofield was wearing a helmet at the
time of the crash.
Alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in the crash, and the crash remains under
investigation.
The Ohio State Highway Patrol reminds motorists to ensure intersections are clear before
proceeding through them, and to never driver distracted.
