Feds Want Answers

The Federal Energy Regulatory Commission proposes a large fine against the builder of a pipeline that runs through a portion of Fulton County. The commission ordered Energy Transfer Partners…and its subsidiary, Rover Pipeline…to explain why it should not pay a $40 million dollar civil penalty for alleged violations of the Natural Gas Act…Commission regulations and…the pipeline’s certificate order during construction of its 711 mile-long interstate natural gas pipeline. An investigation by FERC concluded…Rover intentionally and routinely included diesel fuel and other toxic substances in the drilling mud during its horizontal directional drilling operation over in Stark County. Officials say the crews didn’t monitor their actions…leading to the case.
