Fire destroyed a vacant house Wednesday afternoon east of Edgerton but the flames were the least of firefighters’ concerns on the scene. The fire, according to Edgerton Fire Chief Scott Blue, is being handled cautiously and with kid gloves. There’s a long history of naughty activity out here and the fire looks to be suspicious in nature. The fire was reported at 1:49 p.m. Tuesday, on County Road 6. The Bryan Times reports the Edgerton Fire Department responded with mutual aid from the Bryan, Montpelier, Farmer and Florence Township fire departments. A crew from Butler, Indiana, stood by at the Edgerton station and another crew from Stryker stood by at the Bryan station. The fire was said to have started in a back room and spread to the interior. There were no reported injuries. The investigation into the blaze continues.
