Fire Takes Defiance Barn

A small barn was destroyed by fire Sat­ur­day after­noon in Defi­ance County.

Fire­fight­ers were called just after noon on Sat­ur­day to Flory Road where the build­ing, owned by Eric and Amanda West­hoven, was fully engulfed when they arrived.

There were no reports of any­one hurt in the fire, how­ever a dog that had been in the build­ing was taken to a vet­eri­nar­ian. The cause of the fire is still under inves­ti­ga­tion, but is believed to be elec­tri­cal in nature. Dam­age was esti­mated between $40,000-$50,000.
