With the Labor Day weekend holiday coming up soon, officials are reminding residents there are very few places in the city where fireworks can be discharged. Bryan Fire Chief, Doug Pool gave a presentation to council on the new fireworks law passed last year by the Ohio legislature. It allows 1.4G fireworks, often considered commercial grade, to be discharged by those without a license under certain conditions and on certain holidays. The new law took effect late July of 2022. For the Labor Day holiday, fireworks can be shot off on the first Monday of September and the preceding Saturday and Sunday. Among those laws from the state is that aerial devices need to be discharged at least 150 feet from spectators.
