First Reading For Tax Renewal In Edon

Edon Northwest Local Schools is moving to put a tax renewal on November’s ballot. Officials say it is for operating funds for the district. A first reading of the proposal took place at the district’s board of education meeting…continuing the 1 percent tax on earned income for five years. The measure was originally passed in 2015, took effect in 2016 and is set to expire at the end of 2020. Approximately $450,000 of the revenues goes directly into the general fund for operating costs, such as teacher salaries. A second reading of the proposal has not been done, yet.
