State legislators approve raising the state’s gas tax. The two-year transportation bill goes to Gov. DeWine’s office for signature, and if he moves forward, the bill will become effective on July 1. DeWine had asked for an 18-cent increase, to offset a budget deficit at the Ohio Department of Transportation. The final version settled on 10.5 cents. Several area lawmakers supported the bill.
