A former area state rep will be returning to the Statehouse to fill a vacant seat. A five-member committee of Republicans in the Ohio General Assembly unanimously selected Jim Hoops of Napoleon to fill the 81st House District seat, vacated by Rob McColley, who was chosen last month to take the place of Cliff Hite in the 1st District. The 81st covers Henry, Putnam and Williams counties, as well as the southeast corner of Fulton County. McColley’s unexpired term will run out on Dec. 31. Hoops plans to seek the full term, later this year.
