Ground Broken For Huge Greenhouse Operation

Ground has been broken, and now work is underway, for the new Nature Fresh Farm facility on Ohio 109 at Delta. The project represents a $200 million investment in the area, and is expected to be well underway by the end of the year. Company officials say within 7 years, it will be completed, and there will be between 300 and 360 people working there. They say they expect to have phase one done by this September, and hope to begin shipping produce by this December. Wages will average $10-$15 an hour, with higher wages for management, supervisors and skilled labor positions. When finished, it will provide fresh Ohio-grown tomatoes available year round, with immediate plans to grow tomatoes on the vine right now. According to the company, once the entire 175-acre greenhouse facility is operational, it will produce tens of thousands of cases of fresh-grown tomatoes a year, and will be the largest greenhouse facility in North America.
