Harbor Freight Tools looking to build a new store in Defiance

A discount tool store is preparing to build a new outlet in Defiance. The city’s planning commission approved a site plan proposed on Ohio 66 during its monthly meeting Monday in the city service building. Harbor Freight Tools is proposing construction of a 15,071 square-foot facility with 9,710 square-foot of retail space. A related motion was approved contingent upon stormwater calculations and substitutions on the landscaping plan. The project on the 2.58-acre lot includes demolishing and removing existing buildings and pavement. The buildings include the former Mulligan Sales and Tractor Supply stores.
