Two people injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash near Montpelier

Two people were injured Monday morning in a one-vehicle crash near Montpelier. According to troopers of the Defiance post of the Ohio Highway Patrol, at 8:50 a.m. on County Road R, west of County Road 11 in Williams County’s Bridgewater Township, an eastbound truck driven by 34 year old Dustin Carnicom, of Montpelier, left the north side of the roadway. It crossed back over the roadway, went off the south side, and struck a ditch. The vehicle rolled several times before coming to rest on its wheels. Carnicom was taken to the Community Hospitals and Wellness Centers, Montpelier, and then transferred to St. Vincent’s Mercy Medical Center, Toledo. His passenger, 18 year old Britney Bass of Montpelier, was flown by air ambulance from the scene to St. Vincent’s with unknown injuries. Carnicom was charged with OVI, driving under suspension and failure to control. The crash remains under investigation.
