Helen Newcomer, 81

Helen Martha (Shibler) Newcomer, age 81, of Bryan, Ohio, died at 2:55 a.m. on Tuesday, April 7, 2015, at Hillside Country Living near Bryan, Ohio, where she was a resident. Mrs. Newcomer was a graduate of Ridgeville Corners High School. Following graduation, she was employed as a secretary with The 7-Up Bottling Company in Napoleon, Ohio, until her marriage when she became a full-time homemaker. A lifelong member of St. John Lutheran Church, Stryker, Ohio, she taught Sunday school for many years and used her love of singing in the church choir and by singing at weddings and funerals. She was an avid quilter and enjoyed raising flowers. She also formerly served as a pollworker in Williams County.

Helen Newcomer was born on November 2, 1933, in Ridgeville Corners, Ohio, the daughter of Fredrick and Martha (Arnos) Shibler. She married Lyman L. Newcomer on April 17, 1960, and he survives.

Also surviving are her children, Glen (Ann) Newcomer, Bryan, Gina (Rolland) Wolfrum, of Hicksville, Ohio, Kristine (Steve) Hoene, of Bryan, and Holly (Craig) Verhoff, of Maumee, Ohio; nine grandchildren; and two sisters, Mary Grime, of Archbold, Ohio, and Dorothy Hurst, of Defiance, Ohio. She was preceded in death by one sister, Kathleen Hammon.

Visitation will be held on Thursday, April 9, 2015, from 2:00-5:00 and 6:00-8:00 P.M. in the Krill Funeral Home, 860 West Mulberry Street, Bryan. Services will be held on Friday, April 10, 2015, at 11:00 A.M. in St. John Lutheran Church, located at the corner of State Route 6 and 66, with Reverend Jeffrey Corder and Reverend Dr. Paul Grime officiating. Visitation will be held in the church for one hour prior to the service, beginning at 10:00 A.M. Interment in Fountain Grove Cemetery, Bryan, will be private.

Memorials are requested to St. John Lutheran Church or the Bryan Senior Center.
