The Highway Patrol reports that a routine traffic stop evolved into a high speed chase on Monday evening.
Troopers attempted to stop a pick-up truck on Ohio 576 near Montpelier after it was clocked at 77 miles per hour in a 55 zone.
Rather than stop, the driver sped south on Ohio 576, crossed over to two other state routes and then sped through Montpelier.
Ricky Hicks of Montpelier was finally stopped by police when he stopped at his house after a 16 mile chase.
Hicks was arrested and taken to the Corrections Center of Northwest Ohio.
