Homeless Count Shows Increase

Homelessness increased dramatically from 2013 to 2014 in northwest Ohio.

At the end of January, the Northwest Ohio Community Action Commission and the Northwest Ohio Housing Coalition conducted the point-in-time count of homeless individuals and those at risk for homelessness.

The count was held on January 28th, which just happened to be one of the coldest days on record in northwest Ohio.

The count found 302 homeless people in our area, including 44 families. The count was conducted in Williams, Defiance, Fulton, Henry, Paulding, and Van Wert counties.

In 2013, there were only 157 people counted.
