A long-term construction project on Interstate 69 is set to kick off today, weather permitting, in DeKalb County. The work will construct two new bridges just south of Route 8 between exits 326 and 329, starting on the southbound side with asphalt work in preparation for a traffic pattern shift. That bridge will go up first, then crews will switch to the northbound side sometime this winter. The project is expected to last well into next year.
