Investigation Continues Into Pedestrian / Train Incident In Defiance

In Defi­ance, police today con­tinue their inves­ti­ga­tion into a pedestrian/train acci­dent that hap­pened early Sun­day morn­ing. It was just after 1am Sun­day, at the rail­road cross­ing at Ottawa Avenue, when 36 year old William Southam Jr of Ham­ler, was report­edly walk­ing south on Ottawa Avenue, when for some rea­son, he stepped into the path of an oncom­ing CSX train. Southam was taken to Mercy Defi­ance Hos­pi­tal, then trans­ferred to a Toledo area hos­pi­tal. No update today on his condition.
