Coming up on Thursday in Bryan…fire hydrants in the city will be flushed and serviced. The annual process continues through the end of May. While all this is going on, BMU asks residents to avoid washing laundry between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, when crews are in their area. Hydrant flushing causes sediment in the lines to break loose, which can lead to brown water. If you notice discoloration, run the cold water in your tub for five to 10 minutes or until it becomes clear. The first neighborhood to be serviced is around East Maple Street, between Emmett and South Lynn.
