Jean M. Wilson, 92

Jean M. Wilson, 92 years, of Ney, Ohio, passed away peacefully Saturday, May 28, 2016 Brookview Healthcare Center, Defiance, with her family by her side. Jean was born October 27, 1923 in Farmer, Ohio, the daughter of the late Lester and Esther (Husted) Beerbower. She graduated from Farmer High School and International Business College in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Jean married Elton J. Wilson on July 5, 1947 at her parent’s home, and he preceded her in death on September 24, 2015. Jean worked for many years as a Secretary for Farmer Mutual Fire Protection Association. She also worked at Sauder Museum, Archbold, making baskets. She was a member of the Farmer American Legion Post #137 Ladies Auxiliary, Daughters of the American Revolution and the Farmer United Methodist Church. Jean enjoyed playing her dulcimer with the “Top of Ohio Dulcimer Friends” group, making woven baskets, gardening, bird watching, reading and traveling to many countries overseas. She especially enjoyed spending time with her two grandsons and great-grandson.

Surviving is her daughter, Cheryl (John) Chafin of Ney; two grandsons, Travis (Dana-Renae) Chafin of Waterville, Ohio, and Troy Chafin of San Francisco, California; great-grandson, Titus Chafin; step great-grandson, Isaac Peer and one sister, Eileen (Wayne) Sprow of Ney, Ohio. She was preceded in death by her parents and her husband, Elton Wilson.

Funeral services for Jean M. Wilson will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the Oberlin-Turnbull Funeral Home, Lynn Street Chapel, 206 North Lynn Street, Bryan, with Rev. Ron Adkins, II, and Pastor Kevin King officiating. Interment will follow in Farmer Cemetery. Visitation for Jean will be held two hours prior to the service on Wednesday, June 1, 2016 in the funeral home, beginning at 12:00 noon.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested preferred memorials may be directed to Farmer American Legion Post #137 or to the Farmer United Methodist Church, P.O. Box 34, Farmer, Ohio 43520.
