Jobless Figures Released

Unem­ploy­ment in the six-county area was at or below the state aver­age for July. In fact, Put­nam County was one of 10 coun­ties in the state that had an unem­ploy­ment rate at or below 4 per­cent for the month. The low­est rate was 3.3 per­cent in Mer­cer County. Mon­roe County had the high­est unem­ploy­ment rate at 9.9 per­cent. Here are the num­bers:
Defi­ance County, 4.6 per­cent; Henry County, 4.7 per­cent; Pauld­ing County, 5 per­cent; Williams County, 4.7 per­cent, up slightly from June’s fig­ure of 4.5 per­cent; Ful­ton County, 4.6 per­cent; and Put­nam County, 3.8 percent.
