Unemployment in the six-county area was at or below the state average for July. In fact, Putnam County was one of 10 counties in the state that had an unemployment rate at or below 4 percent for the month. The lowest rate was 3.3 percent in Mercer County. Monroe County had the highest unemployment rate at 9.9 percent. Here are the numbers:
Defiance County, 4.6 percent; Henry County, 4.7 percent; Paulding County, 5 percent; Williams County, 4.7 percent, up slightly from June’s figure of 4.5 percent; Fulton County, 4.6 percent; and Putnam County, 3.8 percent.
