One in five Williams County residents was without a job in the month of April, that’s according to the Ohio Department of Job and Family Services. The numbers show the full effect of COVID-19 shutdowns across a swath of industries. Ohio’s statewide jobless rate for April 2020 was 16.8%, more than triple the 5.5% mark in March. Williams County’s unemployment rate for April was 21.1%, over four time higher than in March. Williams County continues to have the lowest unemployment rate in the four-county area.
