A Montpelier man, accused of abusing a 17-month-old girl, is scheduled to stand trial in May. Alan Laney appeared in a Williams County courtroom for a pretrial conference. He pled not guilty after he was indicted in September 2017 on a list of felonies, including assault and child endangerment. Laney is accused of abusing the girl over the course of two days in June 2017. The case was investigated by the Montpelier Police Department.
