A verdict in the Scott Laser trial. Jurors concluded whether or not Laser abducted his son’s 14-year-old girlfriend last November, remains undetermined but on all other counts he is found guilty. The jury deliberated for seven and a half hours. Williams County prosecutors closed the state’s case, arguing that “Laser will do whatever he can to commit a crime and control his victims,” including impersonating a police officer to coerce a child. Defense Attorney Aaron Cook countered that Laser simply had an obsession with police gear that led to a misunderstanding. Laser will be held in custody until his sentencing hearing on May 20.
