Legislation banning ranked choice voting passes.

Despite opposition from a former state attorney general who urged lawmakers to reject the plan, legislation banning ranked choice voting passed the Ohio House on Wednesday. Senate Bill 63, which was approved by the lower house 63-27, would essentially outlaw ranked choice voting, or RCV, in Ohio and deny financial support to local governments that implement it. The bill was submitted by senators in early 2025, and it was adopted by the Ohio Senate last May.
