Lightning hits home in Highland Township

A storm on Sunday night produced a lightning strike that hit an Ayersville house and caused damage. The Highland Township Fire Department checked out the home on Defiance-Ayersville-Pleasant Bend Rd. after smoke was reported. They found lightning damage to the electional system and phone box. They confirmed there was no fire with a thermal imaging camera. No one was injured and the homeowner was told to get an electrician to repair the damage, estimated at $5,000.
