An area employer shuts down. The ArcelorMittal plant, in Pioneer, will close on Oct. 31. Workers at the Kexon Drive facility were informed during meetings on Friday. Company officials say the closing will impact about 50 salaried and hourly employees on two shifts. The plant is owned by ArcelorMittal Tailored Blanks. It produces laser-welded steel blanks for the auto industry. They say a slowdown in demand led to the decision.
