Local spelling champ to compete in Fort Wayne

A competitive spelling contest at Edon-Northwest Local Schools this week is sending the winner to represent Williams County in a regional bee. An 8th grader at St. Patrick Catholic School was named the winner on Monday. Riley Burdge won on the word “polder.” Yes, I had to look it up, too. It’s a tract of low land, reclaimed from the sea or other body of water. Burdge now advances to the regional spelling bee in Fort Wayne’s Rhinehart Music Center on March 5.
