Local youth cheerleading advisor faces multiple felony charges for sexual misconduct in two counties

A local youth cheerleading advisor faces multiple felony charges for sexual misconduct in two counties. Last week, a Williams County Court of Common Pleas grand jury indicted 21 year old Ryder Sommers of Fayette, on three counts of third-degree felony sexual battery and one count of fourth-degree felony sexual misconduct. The charges alleged that he had sex with two minors, 14 and 16 years old, in August 2016. Locations for the offenses were not listed in the indictments but The Times confirmed that Sommers was a coach at the NWO Elite Athletics Gym in Montpelier and the Head Over Heals Gymnastics Academy in Bryan. A count of sexual battery was filed in the Fulton County Court of Common Pleas Tuesday without a specification for the involvement of minors. His next pretrial conference is scheduled for 9:30 a.m. May 15 in the Williams County Court of Common Pleas.
