Long-serving elected prosecutor for Paulding County retiring.

The long-serving elected prosecutor for Paulding County has retired.  Joseph Burkard, a prosecutor for thirty years, resigned in the middle of his seventh four-year term. This was not surprising in Paulding County because Burkard, who was last elected in 2024, had planned to retire when he turned 66. A resolution was recently accepted by the county commissioners designating Matt Miller, a Paulding County native and Wayne Trace High School alumnus and Burkard’s assistant prosecutor for the previous 18 years, as his successor.
