Only 2,039 of the registered 12,577 voters in precincts with races in Tuesday’s special election cast their ballots. That equates to 16 percent voter turnout from the Bryan and Stryker school districts, as well as the Florence Township fire district. Williams County Board of Elections officials say numbers were likely down due to the ballot only having three local issues and a dearth of high-profile state races. A special election in 2016, which featured a presidential primary, had a turnout of 46 percent in Williams County, with all 26 precincts voting. In 2015, which featured only local issues on the special election ballot, turnout was around 27 percent.
