Man sent to prison for theft from relative

A man was sen­tenced to prison on Mon­day after being charged with grand theft. Shon Cantu was given a 58 month prison term with credit for 75 days served in jail while his case was pending.
Cantu was sen­tenced in Defi­ance Com­mon Pleas court for three counts of grand theft when the prop­erty is a firearm or dan­ger­ous ord­nance, grand theft of a motor vehi­cle, break­ing and enter­ing, and inter­fer­ence with custody.
Accord­ing to court records, the charges alleged that on Sep­tem­ber 10 he stole a vehi­cle from inside a garage, stole three guns from a rel­a­tive, and trans­ported a female juve­nile from her res­i­dence across state lines with­out permission.
