The Montpelier Fire Department is one of 113 fire departments in 52 Ohio counties to receive 2022 equipment grants. Gov. DeWine’s office…and the Ohio Department of Commerce’s Division of State Fire Marshal’s Office…makes the announcement. Montpelier Fire gets $10,000 dollars for personal protective equipment…all part of the $1 million dollars in statewide awards. Allowable equipment within the grant includes protective clothing, self-contained breathing apparatus, communications and other miscellaneous equipment. The fire departments were selected based on a variety of criteria, including their annual budget, number of fire incidents and the resident population served by the fire department. Eligible departments must serve a population of fewer than 25,000, be in compliance and have submitted incident fire reports for the designated year.
