Michigan Man Headed To Prison For CVS Robbery

A man who robbed the CVS Pharmacy in Angola of medications last July before leading police on a chase which ended at the Lions Den adult book store north of Coldwater was sentenced on Monday in Steuben County Court, to nine years of a 12 year prison sentence. 40-year-old Joseph Leiffer of Carleton, Michigan had pleaded guilty on May 14th. In exchange for that guilty plea, prosecutors dismissed a Level 6 felony charge of resisting law enforcement. Leiffer was also placed on probation for three years upon his release from prison, and he will also have to pay $544 in restitution to CVS. He also can never again enter a CVS store. The sentence he earned yesterday in Indiana, will be served concurrently with another sentence he was handed in Michigan of between 57 months and 15 years. Leiffer was sentenced back in November in Michigan after he entered a guilty plea to a charge of unlawful imprisonment involving an employee of an adult book store.
